With the influx of DeepSeek powered Chrome extensions, flooding the Chrome Web Store, it’s hard to determine which one lives up to expectations. Therefore, I’ve tested five well-known DeepSeek Chrome extensions to identify which one is the best to use.
1. DeepSeek AI by deepseekai.works
Deepseekai. works is one of the best DeepSeek Chrome extensions that are clean and minimalist with an interface with a sidebar. It is based on DeepSeek V3 and does not allow users to choose various models, which is a major disadvantage compared to other AI extensions I’ve tried which offer options for selecting models.
I requested the program to describe quantum entanglement, and create the Python palindrome program. I also provided other requests; the responses were precise and technical.
One of the features which caught my eye is the option to personalize that lets you include personal information or instructions that will direct the responses of DeepSeek. For instance, you can ask it to respond in a certain written style or language Similar to how you could assign ChatGPT particular characteristics of a persona. However, the process appears to be basic and insufficient.
The biggest drawbacks were apparent in a short time There’s no chat history preservation (meaning the conversations are lost after you close the sidebar) Furthermore it doesn’t have the ability to analyse or access the content of web pages. This means it’s not as useful for content summarization or research tasks.
The interface also prompts you to share the extension on social media to “unlock all AI Assistant features,” it’s an unneeded barrier that other extensions do not impose. Overall, it works more like a stand-alone chatbot rather than a real browser assistant.

2. DeepSeek AI by deepseek.ai
This extension isn’t an integral Chrome extension. Instead, clicking on the icon will open a separate window that is a separate version of the DeepSeek Web version.
There are some benefits it gives you access to the full functionality of the complete DeepSeek AI chatbot installed on your computer and that is pinned to your taskbar. This program is DeepSeek V3; you can upload attachments, and search the internet. The prompts’ responses are exactly expect from DeepSeek.
3. DeepSeek R1 by fadelmalnab
Its DeepSeek Chrome extension promises to provide an interactive user interface. However, some shortcomings became apparent as I was using it. The most restrictive one is the five-question balance it provides for free users — a very low limit when compared with others AI extensions.
Similar to the original DeepSeek extensions, the latest version does not have access to web pages. However, it can keep chat history intact and comes with dark mode.
The extension is able to support uploads basic images format in (.jpg, .jpeg, .png). However, it offers an impressive support for languages with 28 languages to choose from, making it available to anyone around the world.
The primary functionality focuses on coding tasks. It also provides concept explanations, text improvement and analysis of code. I was able to get well-organized responses when I tried the program with a few prompts, as illustrated below.
I found design flaws with the text display. Content is crowded over the border, creating a cramped appearance that hinders reading. It’s interesting that, although the extension prompts users to upgrade, there’s no information about how many credits will be included with the plan. This leaves prospective customers in the dark about the features they’re getting.
4. DeepSeek Assistant by deepseek-assistant.com
Many free AI chatbots that come with Chrome extensions are solely focusedon a sidebar interface. Yet, DeepSeek Assistant stood out because it features a classic sidebar with chat functionality and an interactive minibar that is displayed when you highlight texts on websites.
Even with its improved functionality, it isn’t able to browse and summarize web pages through its panel. If I asked the extension to look at an article on the internet, it gave me an assumption of the content of the article using only the URL. It offered a templated response, instead of a thorough analysis.
I asked it to respond to questions about writing, coding, and summarizing. The responses were all well-organized and much more precise.
But, the minibar that is activated by highlight is impressive. When you type in the text on any page, it will display a variety of options to translate to, summarize, paraphrase, expand, verify grammar, clarify, and then go to chat. Other than this option to translate, all of these tools performed well and proved extremely helpful.
This extension allows the selection of models between DeepSeek R1 and V3 it also allows for some flexibility. It also integrates into Google Search and displays a widget that resembles Google Gemini to provide answers directly within results of searches.
However, I ran into certain restrictions: The extension can’t accept attachments to files and occasionally I received “API timed out” errors during times of high traffic.

5. DeepSeek AI by SupaEasy
The final DeepSeek chrome extension, which is from my test line-up is probably the most basic of the extensions. It claims that it runs using an older version of the DeepSeek R1 model, but it isn’t able to switch onto DeepSeek V3.
The interface is simple and provides a basic the ability to input text into a box and response space. Similar to the majority of its peers in this review however, it is completely devoid of browser capabilities for browsing web pages and therefore can’t browse or analyse the contents you’re looking at within your browser. However, it provided the fastest and fastest responses to my questions.
The extension can keep the conversations history, which allows you to refer back to previous conversations. However, the absence of support for attachments to files and integration with web pages limits its use as a tool for browsing.
It’s not easy to endorse this approach as other alternatives have more features. The extension serves more as an essential DeepSeek API wrapper, rather than an all-inclusive browser assistant.
The issue I faced was that the extension’s tendency to cut long answers in mid-sentence. It seems to be limited in terms of words and sometimes leads to incomplete explanations. It makes the extension appear insecure for any questions beyond the most basic questions.
Final word — Choose the right DeepSeek Chrome Extension
After thoroughly testing all five DeepSeek Chrome extensions, I found DeepSeek Assistant by deepseek-assistant.com the most useful. The highlight-activated minibar in the app is an effective tool that is integrated with the normal browsing experience. It offers features that increase productivity.
While none of these extensions offer perfect web page integration, DeepSeek Assistant by deepseek-assistant.com comes closest with its contextual tools and search widget integration, and I’ve continued using it since writing this article. This is a reason to continue using DeepSeek regardless of the security and censorship problems.
