Tencent’s Hunyuan AI Models Make Overseas Debut with Launch of 3D Engine

On November 26, Tencent launched an international version of its Hunyuan 3D generative AI engine, in what the Chinese technology group is presenting as the official overseas debut of its Hunyuan model family.

The company has opened the Hunyuan 3D Creation Engine international site at 3d.hunyuanglobal.com, giving users outside China browser-based tools to generate 3D assets from text, images, and sketches. A Hunyuan 3D model API is also available on Tencent Cloud International, allowing developers and enterprise customers to call the model via an interface.

Hunyuan 3D is a self-developed large generative model and one of the main models in Tencent’s Hunyuan series, which the company says is being built to cover text-to-image, video, and 3D generation. Several 3D models in the Hunyuan 3D family were open-sourced in November 2024 and hosted on platforms such as Hugging Face. Community downloads of these open-source models have now exceeded 3 million, making Hunyuan 3D one of the world’s most widely used 3D open-source model families among developers and creators.

The Hunyuan 3D series has gone through multiple iterations aimed at improving generation quality and modeling accuracy. It has two main lines: Hunyuan3D, for high-quality object and asset production, and HunyuanWorld, for larger scenes and interactive environments. The latest version, Hunyuan3D 3.0, uses a 3D-DiT hierarchical architecture that targets both global structure and local detail. Modeling precision is put at three times that of the previous version, with support for 1536³ geometric resolution and around 3.6 billion voxels.

Beyond 3D, Tencent has also open-sourced HunyuanVideo 1.5, a model that generates 5–10 second HD video clips, extending the multimodal Hunyuan portfolio into short-form video.

The Hunyuan 3D international site supports text-to-3D, image-to-3D, and sketch-to-3D generation, as well as automatic low-poly topology that adapts mesh complexity to the object. Models can be exported in OBJ and GLB formats and imported into software such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender.

More than 150 enterprises in mainland China have already integrated Tencent Hunyuan 3D via Tencent Cloud, in areas such as game development, e-commerce display, film, and television effects, advertising, social media content creation, and 3D printing. Named users include Unity China, consumer 3D printing firm Bambu Lab, and AI content platform Liblib. In one furniture e-commerce trial, adding 3D product models lifted click-through rates by 35%, according to the company.

To drive overseas adoption, new accounts on the Hunyuan 3D international site receive 20 free 3D generations per day. In contrast, new users of the Hunyuan 3D API on Tencent Cloud International receive 200 points for 3D generation calls.

Tencent describes the 3D launch as the first step in rolling out the broader Hunyuan model family to international markets, as demand for AI-generated 3D content grows in gaming, retail, media, and manufacturing.
